Capt Rick Ouellet owner/operator of Off Duty Fishing Charters. Capt Rick who is an active member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also has over 25 years fishing experience, fishing in virtually every Canadian Province. He has also fished in the USA, Mexico and Europe. He is well versed with most species, techniques and equipment on the market. However, he still enjoys learning new tricks of the trade. Capt Rick has been operating Charters since 1984. Off Duty Fishing Charters is commercially insured, inspected yearly and exceeds the Provincial and Federal safety standards. Capt Rick has received Marine Operations training and Search and Rescue (SAR) training as part of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. Off Duty Fishing Charters and staff will provide you with all the amenities for a safe and comfortable fishing excursion on wonderful Georgian Bay.

Capt Rick is a Pro Staff for Gibbs/Nortac Fishing Tackle and an active member of the Penn Fishing Tackle and Normark Charter Boat Program. Being associated with these fine companies allows us to conduct field tests and submit reports on various lures and tackle.

Off Duty Fishing Charters is inspected and certified by Transport Canada! Very few charters boats in Ontario operate with approval of Transport Canada Read for yourself before you book with just anybody!!!!

We target several kinds of species, such as Chinook Salmon, Rainbow Trout/Steelhead, Brown Trout, Splake and Lake Trout. Best time to catch these fish are June to early September, the average size of our Chinook Salmon is 10-15 lbs & up to 25 lbs+, Rainbow Trout, Steelhead, Brown Trout, Splake and Lake Trout average from 6-10 lbs & up to 20 lbs+ (Ontario Record was caught here 29.1 lbs). The weather plays a big role in how fish behave and it often affects the various species, so don't hesitate to contact me to find out more.

Some of the equipment you will find aboard Off Duty Fishing Charters

We supply all fishing equipment. You are welcome to bring your own fishing gear if you so desire, however if you wish to bring your own fishing equipment, Off Duty Fishing Charters does not accept liability for their lost and/or damage.

Cold soft drinks are available onboard. Feel free to bring your favorite non-alcoholic beverage and snacks. Picnic style lunches can be made available upon request.

Be sure to wear warm comfortable clothing and footwear as the temperature offshore can be several degrees cooler that on land. Dressing in layers is recommended. Also think about your camera, sunscreen and seasickness medication if needed.

You will also need a valid Ontario Fishing Licence -Available Locally Full Holiday Packages are available, contact me for arrangements.

The Wasaga Beach area offers a variety of activities for the whole family and we are very proud to have the largest fresh water beach in the world - 17 km (10 miles) of beautiful white sand. Or you can go hiking, golfing, horseback riding, canoeing etc…

To avoid disappointment during the busy season, I recommend that you place your reservation several weeks in advance, especially in mid-summer to late August.
